The Day In Crazy : 6.28.2012
June 28, 2012
All in all, it’s been a pretty good day. (Upholding the most meaningful expansion of the social safety net in decades goes a long way toward that end.) Clearly, the big story of the day was the Supreme Court decision upholding the Affordable Care Act. Despite any misgivings progressives might have about a lost opportunity to push for a single payer plan , or Medicare For All, it’s still better to keep what progress we have managed to achieve than to scrap it all.
But no matter. Nothing on the Left could even begin to approach the freak-out on the Right. A few choice selections:
- As I reported earlier, Glenn Beck was in rare form – If you’re so inclined, you can even watch his heart break a little more here
- Chip Bertlet at Talk to Action reports that the Christian Right Family Research Council thinks the court “sided with Satan“
- Many, many conservo-patriots took to the Twitter machine declaring their intention to emigrate to Canada (a country with universal healthcare) in protest of this descent into socialist madness
- Others simply lamented the clear fact that America died today
- Rep. Mike Pence likened the decision to 9/11
- Then there’s this site where you can follow the delightful thread OFficial: USA now communist. Obamacare upheld by supreme court.
- Did I mention folks are planning to flee to Canada to escape the tyranny?
- And our old pal Sen. Rand Paul regaled us all with his complete #FAIL in high school Civics class - Just Because SCOTUS Says It’s Constitutional, ‘Doesn’t Make It So’
- Oh, and there’s this for measured, un-hysterical analysis:

I hope you could take a long long bath after too much time with the slimy lying right wing whose fingernails are dirty from looking for communists under every rock on the riverbank.
